When Blood Cancer UK approached me, the charity had recently refreshed its Organisational Strategy, and were starting a programme of fundraising for transformational research and support for people with blood cancer.
To support this work, and to document some of the impact the charity had had in its 65-year history, the team commissioned me to write an Impact Report.
I worked closely with the comms team and with colleagues from across the charity to summarise key examples of the charity’s work that aligned with their new organisational priorities. The team were well-organised with providing information about their work, which I supplemented with my own research on their website
I worked with teams across the organisation, to shape the structure of the document and the content.
Part of the challenge was the relatively tight timescales, which had to account for gathering feedback from multiple stakeholders.
Throughout the copy, I weaved a strong narrative around progress, and that the goal of beating blood cancer is within reach.
The charity then adapted the final report into a webpage to highlight the examples of impact. https://bloodcancer.org.uk/about-us/our-impact/. The final version of the Blood Cancer UK’s Impact Report is also available to download (PDF)
This was a challenging but hugely rewarding project to work on. The Impact report was well-received by the team, and it will now be used to demonstrate the difference that supporters have made to people affected by blood cancer. This will support fundraising to invest in the work that will finally beat blood cancer for good.
