The brief
Blood Cancer UK had developed an ambitious new research strategy but needed help turning it into clear, engaging document. Since their previous strategy, the charity had launched new funding calls and had ambitious plans for future investments. They wanted a document that would communicate their research priorities effectively to the research community, funders, and people affected by blood cancer.
Without copywriting capacity in-house and facing tight deadlines to get the strategy approved, they needed an external writer who could understand their research and craft copy that worked with their brand.
The work
I wrote the copy for their research strategy document, working collaboratively with their team through several feedback rounds. The project involved translating their strategic vision into accessible language that would resonate with researchers, funders, and other key audiences.
The results
The charity now has a Research Strategy document that clearly sets out their research funding priorities and principles, bringing their vision to life while working well with their brand. They’ve received positive feedback from across the organisation and key external stakeholders.

The document is already helping the research community understand their funding approach and is expected to support income generation by showcasing their ambitious direction for research funding.
I really enjoyed the challenge of this project. It was a pleasure working with Blood Cancer UK, learning about their work and their bold ambitions, and to help them get across how they intend to invest in research which will stop people dying from blood cancer.
